HYPNOTHERAPY

“Imagine you are floating in an ocean of serenity, an ocean of possibilities...

“True healing begins when you acknowledge the pain and listen to it.

Each of us is the ultimate healer of his/her own condition, no matter what the cause.”

WHAT IS HYPNOTHERAPY? HOW DOES IT WORK?

Hypnotherapy is a natural, gentle therapy which allows you to reach your subconscious mind through hypnosis in order to achieve your objectives more easily, without your conscious mind interfering. And because your subconscious mind is in a heightened state of suggestibility and receptivity under hypnosis, hypnotherapy is extremely effective and fast working… in complete serenity.

WHAT IS HYPNOSIS, THEN?

According to the Society of Psychological Hypnosis, “hypnosis involves learning how to use your mind and thoughts in order to manage emotional distress, unpleasant physical symptoms or to help you change certain habits or behaviours.”

Hypnosis is actually an altered state of mind that naturally occurs to us every day, very similar to day dreaming or guided meditation. You are here and yet you are somewhere else. You are in a state of deep relaxation, while still aware. Hypnosis is the state right between waking and sleeping.

WHAT IS HYPNOSIS NOT?

  • Hypnosis is not loss of consciousness. In other words, you cannot be hypnotised if, deep inside yourself, you do not want to, and no one can make you act against your will. Whether you believe it or not, a hypnotherapist is not a bizarre person with strange powers! In fact, a hypnotherapist will be able to work with you only if you want to.

  • Hypnosis is not dangerous. Hypnosis takes you deeper and deeper into relaxation, relaxes you more and more and yes, everyone comes out of hypnosis! Hypnosis is similar to natural sleep, albeit different, during which you constantly hear the voice of the hypnotherapist in the background. In hypnotherapy, we focus on the therapy aspect. The hypnotherapist is a therapist who is ethically bound to help his/her client. He/she is not there to manipulate or make fun of a subject. Hypnotherapy is not stage hypnosis.

  • Can I be stuck in hypnosis and not be able to wake up? No. Hypnosis is deep relaxation coupled with focused attention. Although physically there are some changes (muscle relaxation, slowed breathing etc), somehow you are still aware and hear the hypnotherapist at all times. If you decide to remain in that profound state of relaxation, it is because it feels actually extremely pleasant! However, you will wake up. Inevitably.

  • Hypnosis is not magic, even though the effects do seem amazing and magical when compared to some other methods. However, no incredible miracle will take place: You will not become fluent in French in a week; you will not be a size 8 in 2 sessions. And yet… It may well be that your sports results suddenly skyrocket, that you pass your exams with fantastic grades or that you reach your sales target in an incredible manner.

WHO CAN BE HYPNOTISED?
Anyone can be hypnotised - even if the person appears to resist, either out of fear of losing control, or fear of change… However, if deep down he/she is willing to move forward, results will occur.

We all go into hypnotic trance every day at one point or another: For example, when we are deeply engrossed in a good book or movie, when we drive "on autopilot" and reach our destination without even remembering how we got there...

Some think they cannot be hypnotised. However, these individuals are often the best experts in hypnosis, without even knowing it! They hypnotise themselves day after day, week after week, month after month, but often in a negative way... giving themselves anxiety attacks, focusing on the dark side of things, over-analysing every single event, and therefore creating obstacles that prevent them from moving forward in their lives.

In fact, we all use hypnosis, at all times, unknowingly, through self-hypnosis. And if we use it in an uncontrolled way, it controls us!

Fortunately, hypnotherapy allows us to wake up - even if it seems paradoxical to wake up thanks to the sleep of hypnosis! - and allows us to change our perception of things, thus enabling us to suddenly enjoy well-being, serenity and positivity.

HOW DO I KNOW IF I HAVE BEEN HYPNOTISED?

While listening to the hypnotherapist’s voice, you will feel more and more relaxed, with a pleasant heaviness setting up in your body, while your thoughts are floating, drifting away then coming back, like in dream.  And… Although you might still wonder if you have been hypnotised, the changes that will take place soon after the session will be proof that you have!

HOW CAN HYPNOTHERAPY HELP YOU ?

Sometimes, some therapies will take many months or years of work on oneself to offer a breakthrough. Through hypnotherapy, results can appear nearly instantly or miraculously somehow, just in a matter of a few sessions. When the psychiatrist Dr Milton Erickson, the father of modern hypnotherapy, appeared on the scene, he stated that no therapy should last longer than 15 hours.

Hypnotherapy helps you modify your state of mind, therefore, your thoughts, behaviour habits, limitations… Very soon, you will find that you are different. You will have more self-confidence, self-respect, self-esteem and self-love. At last, you will allow yourself to become who you want to become and create the life you want to create. It will be yours. Because your life does not get better by chance. It gets better by change.

“Never be afraid of change.
You may lose something good, but you may gain something even better.”
